At the heart of Texas, in the city of San-Antonio, there’s a culinary secret that has captured hearts: the Chili con Carne, an iconic dish that brings together the most spicy and savory flavors. It’s an aromatic, spicy, and hot delight, perfect for moments shared around a table or to accompany a taco.

🥘 Ingredients

  • 400 gr of ground beef
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 2 small jalapeno peppers
  • 1 large onion (or 2 small)
  • 540 ml (19 oz) of diced tomatoes
  • 398 ml (14 oz) of cooked red beans
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 3 cups of chili sauce
  • 2 cups of tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup of chicken, beef, or water broth
  • Old El Paso spices or 2 tbsp of chili powder, 1/2 tsp of cumin powder, and some oregano
  • 3 cups of cooking oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cilantro to taste

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Coarsely chop the onion in a food processor.
  2. Remove the bell peppers and coarsely chop them.
  3. In a large non-stick skillet or Dutch oven, add oil and gently sauté the onion, garlic, and bell peppers.
  4. Add the ground beef and cook gently for 10 minutes.
  5. Mix the remaining ingredients (onion, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, beans, and spices) and add salt, pepper, and broth.
  6. Cover and cook for about 25 minutes until the desired consistency is reached.
  7. Serve hot, accompanied by corn (in season) and/or rice.
  8. Note: You can also use it as a taco filling. In this case, place it in a taco shell, add black olives, cheese, lettuce, and serve.
